With all eyes set on the World Cup, Mohamed Salah continues to undergo treatment in Spain for the shoulder injury he suffered in the Champions League final. Both Liverpool and the EFA have estimated Salah to be out for three weeks meaning he will be fighting time to be back for Egypt’s first game against Uruguay.
Meanwhile, his Liverpool teammate Dejan Lovren has spoken about the injury and how the ‘Egyptian King’ played multiple games last season while being in pain.
“I haven’t spoken to him a lot, Hopefully he can be fit for the World Cup because I know it means a lot to him to play for his national team,” Lovren began.
“I’m positive. I have some news but I will keep it to myself,” the 28-year-old defender hinted.
“Mo is the type of player who wants to play even when he feels pain. He showed that this season. There were a couple of games where people didn’t know (he was in pain) but in the end he scored a hat-trick or whatever,” Lovren revealed.
“Of course it was disappointing for him that he couldn’t finish the game in Kiev, but he’s positive and hopefully he can move on and play for the national team,” he concluded.
Lovren will also be on his way to Russia after being included in Croatia’s final 23-man squad. Croatia will open their 2018 World Cup account against Nigeria on June 16.
